This is for you. I am not even going to call you out. Me in my office and me next to one of the many switches in my office.

No I just don't like People that aren't in the game calling me out, Sorry for this guys. but it was my only recourse and not the proper venue but I don't enjoy being called names and being told I am probably lying about what I do for a living.
and I hate mac's but am forced to use them. I have virtual machines with windows on them just because I hate Mac's

The only thing I use my mac for is for the terminal window. Unix/Linux systems admin here.

ah man really, oh well I am done with that, I know when to properly disengage. This was at that point. Thanks I now know to never reply to that name.

You look a lot like the guy who just served me in Tesco, only a bit younger.
Mind you, given the devilspawn boxes I see in the background, I think I'd prefer to have his job than yours - remuneration aside. It's not Macs themselves I hate, but the idiots who buy them for their businesses because they're all shiny-shiny.

You might as well dismiss most of what
Why do you hate them?

Oh you're flipping off Roberto/AUTOVOX? It's a wonder he hasn't been banned (for the 4th time now or something) yet.

sweet, I use it via ARD it so nice to be able to send a chmod to 100 computers at once.
ARD is one thing I do like, that with Casper makes like nice and simple.
Just don't do like that guy in Boston that sent out a wildcard to delete anything including TOR. I felt bad for him, but it was partially Casper's fault to but he should of tested it.

edu campus support/admin. That's my guess.
Who else has piles of plastic MacBooks around?

I just went back and read the conversation in-question that lead to this post.
I have no earthly damned idea what either of you said. But yes, let's not be calling names, Autovox. This is NOT Gawker.

I didn't see what thread you got called out in, but it seems odd that you'd be called our for being a networking/IT guy, although your job description isn't clear. There are millions of us after all, and points to you, your cable management looks better than most I encounter.
I hate Macs too, mainly because my business partner insists on using nothing less. This is even though it's totally impractical for our work, and his other business which I do the tech support and networking for.
The growing trend in clients wanting to be on the Mac side is also getting quite tiring. It's ok when we're talking iOS, not so much OS X.

I have twins all over the world I am spotted every where. But it is never me. I will say it's Probably my German/French/Czech Heritage give me a very common world face.

If you think that cable management is bad, i just don't know what to tell you... Looks like a dream compared to what I encounter on a regular basis.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:02 |

Well, they sometimes just don't do things like they should, simple little things, that just work on PC's. They are getting better, but just like a while back they Yanked Java, OMFG, yea it sucks it puts holes in your system. But really apple.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:03 |

Yea, Mac's and AD doesn't mix well. It's getting better, but you probably understand its the little simple things that uselessly frustrate you.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:04 |

We redid our server room a few months ago. Very neat and tidy (my co-worker who headed up the redo is a bit anal retentive about cable management). So it's worse than what I see on a daily basis, but far better than some rooms I can't unsee.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:04 |

Yeah, those things are obnoxious, but in general I like having a terminal that makes sense. Windows still doesn't understand when I type "ls" although I had limited success in hyperterminal...

This Jalopnik guy, intrigues me.

Yea I really was tossed up if I should put myself out like this, but hey screw it. I have put myself out there in much worse ways.

"rooms I can't unsee" made me laugh. I needed cheering up so thanks for that :)

"Mac's and AD doesn't mix well."
What are you using? Thursby? Centrify?
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:13 |

I use ls -nl a lot mac's do some weird crap with user accounts. like switching ownership to nobody which makes them not able to login, and not show up in the user's and groups in system pref's, but if you toss a ls at users they are listed, like really are we doing this again.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:13 |

le sigh...
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:14 |

The AD side of things isn't that much of an issue for us even with its frustrations. It's software packages, we install security systems which need proprietary software packages to be accessed remotely, which tend to be Windows based even if the hardware is Linux, although slowly making moves on OS X software they claim.
The main issue for his other business is his clients are mainly large enterprise and tend to have all their bookkeeping and financial stuff tied into other proprietary Windows systems, which obviously don't work with OS X. So he ends up stuck with client owned windows laptops to do certain functions that are obviously old re-purposed crap. He's his own worst enemy.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:15 |

So what do you do for a living? You look happy and stress free so its gotta be something good.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:18 |

We use Casper, and Altiris (pc's), with AD.

Look,
AUTOVOX/Roberto is a fucking douchebag. Ignore him.
He gets off on this kind of stuff, his antics don't have much favour anymore and he is a rampaging dumbass who goes into tirades if you so much as question his divine knowledge.
![]() 10/07/2013 at 13:24 |

We're using Centrify and Absolute for our back end solutions.
Don't even get me started on what Symantec has been doing with Encryption for the last two years or how a fed.gov can't decide on consistent soft and hard certs for email signing and encrypting.
Ugh, and smart card authentication and hard token sign on?

oh that must Suck, I did a stint at 3m, they got it down, every thing is very well managed and planned, every one is on a 3 year cycle, and single sign on works very well.
here, about 3 things work via single sign on.
very boring job though.

shhh dont tell... and how did you now they where servers, Apple doesn't consider them that unless they are blades which they don't sell any more but that is what they are running, and also means I can not use any of the lights out management software they provide.
